Sequential Illustration Concepts, a.k.a. SU ILL 562 is a course taught by Frank Cammuso at Syracuse University.

The class is designed to introduce students to the discipline of sequential storytelling as it is practiced in comic books, graphic novels, comic strips and storyboarding for film and animation.  Students will become familiar with basic character design, perspective, pacing and composition. The student will also become acquainted with the traditional skills and tools of the cartooning trade.

There will be three class assignments and a fourth, final project that is chosen by the student. The final project is to either write and draw a four page comic or create a Leporello. There will also be the weekly Sketchbook Challenge.

Students are expected to take part during in-class assignments and participate in group and individual critiques. When there is an in-class assignment, students will draw while classmates have individual critiques with the instructor.

Upon the completion of an assignment there will be group critiques before it is handed to the instructor.
